Chapter 122
He was really curious about how Clara had those moves, but he didn't ask.
He knew her well enough—she hated people prying. All he could do was wait silently by her side.
Someday, he believed, he'd get close enough to see all of her.
Just then, Margaret Carter showed up to pick up Julian.
She snapped, "What happened this time? Stirring up trouble again?"
"Mom, no! Someone tried to hurt me—Clara saved me."
Margaret froze. "You mean Clara?"
"Yeah, she was incredible. If not for her, I'd probably be a mess right now."
Margaret glanced over at Clara. "This girl's not bad. When you two were engaged, I already liked her. A little cold, but miles better than that Bennett girl. Honestly, I wish she was my daughter-in-law instead."
"Hang on, Mom, I want to say hi," Julian said and quickly headed Clara's way.
Nicholas's face darkened—this guy really dared walk over?
"Clara! Clara!"
"Yeah? What now?" Clara replied coolly.
Julian felt the sharp chill coming from Nicholas's glare and swallowed hard.
