That hit a nerve. The expressions on the second and third branches’ faces darkened instantly.
Not spending a dime from the Howard family fund was exactly what made them feel so sour about it. If any family money had gone into it, they’d at least have some grounds to fight over it. But now? They didn’t even have that.
“Mom, are you not comfortable living here?” Grace asked gently.
“Yeah, totally. Grandma hasn’t stopped complaining about aches and pains since she got here. Guess the change of scenery isn’t doing her any good. Better let her go back—she’s used to being around Uncle Stephen and Uncle David anyway,” C
