Chapter 129
Emma Lane immediately sensed something was off and reached out to stop Grace Hill, but her hand barely moved before a tall figure stepped in her way.
It was Alexander Barron.
Emma's face went pale. She stammered quickly, “Sir, Miss Grace wouldn’t listen. I tried stopping her, but she insisted on going up!”
“It’s fine. If she wants to go see Summer, just let her. At least she’ll have someone to talk to, and won’t constantly think about leaving,” Alexander said, waving dismissively.
He figured that if Grace stayed with Summer for a while, it might cheer her up a bit.
He really didn’t want to see Summer like this anymore—so lifeless, so empty, like all the light had been sucked out of her overnight.
“Sir, maybe you should consider letting her—”
Emma had barely started when a sharp look from Alexander made her freeze. She swallowed back the “Mrs. Barron” she was about to say and silently went back to her work.
She wanted to help Summer too, but what could she really do?
