That man looked nothing like the usually stiff, business-like CEO he was known to be-eyes wild, jaw tight, there was a dangerous edge to him. From a distance, Sabrina stared at him, feeling like she was seeing a total stranger.
He scanned the surroundings, sharp eyes checking every corner before locking onto her. His voice was low and firm. "Come here."
Sabrina's heart skipped several beats right then.
It almost felt unreal. Like a dream. She had just thought about him-really thought about him-and now, here he was, showing up in the nick of time when she was on the brink of disaster.
She stood up, stepping slowly toward the early morning light, watching as he walked toward her, calm and assured.
Matthew quickly grabbed her arm. "Have you lost your mind?! Sit down! Do you even know who he is?"
Before he could say more, a bullet smacked into the brick wall next to him, sending dust and debris spraying everywhere. Matt flinched hard, covering his face and coughing.
