Delia still decided to show up. She didn't buy that whole "heirloom" story-didn't matter anyway. What mattered was, it was finally time to settle things with Grace, once and for all.
Grace had picked the spot-a quiet, out-of-the-way park gazebo. Delia didn't mind. Honestly, with Edward and Isabelle gone, Grace wasn't anyone she needed to worry about anymore.
When Delia arrived, Grace was already waiting.
"You came," Grace said flatly as Delia walked up.
Delia's face was unreadable. Her eyes swept over Grace's gaunt frame. "Cut to the chase. What do you want?"
Grace picked up her bag, looking calm, but her trembling hands gave her away. "I told you... I'm returning your mother's heirloom."
Delia let out a cold half-smile, sharp as a blade. "Really now? Funny, I lived my whole life never hearing about any heirloom, and suddenly it's in your hands?"
