Chapter 204 Cutting Off the Threat
The hug was tight, and there was a faint tremor in it, like the aftershock of fear.
Christian still didn't feel at ease. He thought about what William had said, that he should tell Annie the truth about who he really was.
Easton was clearly trying to use Annie to go after Sean.
Easton had treated her like a piece on the board, something to be used and discarded.
Christian couldn't keep sitting back, waiting for someone to expose his lie or for hidden dangers to find her on their own. He needed to move first.
Annie was held so tightly that she could barely breathe, yet the strange thing was that it made her feel so safe. Resting against his chest, the irritation and heaviness Easton had left behind finally melted away.
"Alright," she said softly, giving him a light push. "It's green."
Christian loosened his arms. The storm of emotion in his eyes was there and then gone, tucked away so neatly that it was hard to tell it had ever been there.
