Ten minutes later, the medic walked out carrying a medical kit.
"Uh, is he okay?" Evander Sinclair jumped up from his seat, looking anxious.
The medic waved his hand, "He's fine. Not a scratch on him."
"Not a scratch at all?"
"Exactly. Perfectly healthy," the medic glanced briefly at Ava Quarles, "Captain, no signs of tearing."
"Seriously? No tearing? That spot, though..."
Evander started blurting out more but suddenly realized how it sounded, clamping his mouth shut mid-sentence with an awkward expression.
The medic, calm and unphased, seemed used to handling situations like this. He replied smoothly, "You see, once it becomes familiar, paired with the right added equipment, tearing is generally not an issue anymore."
The explanation was subtle, but everyone in the room got what he meant.
