Wyatt’s POV
Hearing how firm she was, I finally realized this thing between her and Everett was far from a clean break.
I’d watched Scarlett grow up. I knew she was never one to just take things lying down.
How could she marry and divorce someone with barely a peep?
It didn’t sit right with me, especially knowing how the Taylor family operates.
“Scarlett, be real with me. Do your parents know?”
A forced laugh came from the other end of the line. “I just told them it didn’t work out. You know how my dad and brothers are. I don’t want this to turn into something bigger.”
I hesitated for a moment. “But—”
“Uncle Robert,” she interrupted gently, “there’s no need to talk me out of it. There’s too much history between Everett and me for a quick fix. Bottom line, I was young and dumb, fell for the wrong guy, and now I’m owning that mistake.”
After a pause, I asked quietly, “Do you hate him now?”
