Everett’s POV
After the car accident, Amelia left the country too. As far as I was concerned, whatever we had was completely over back then.
If it weren’t for Aunt Maria falling ill this time, Amelia and I probably wouldn’t have spoken again.
The more I thought about it, the more I figured Scarlett’s coldness had to do with the rumors about me and Amelia.
If that’s all it took, then a simple explanation should clear the air.
Taking a deep breath, I softened my tone. “Scarlett, about me and Amelia, it’s—”
“Scarlett!”
A loud, excited voice cut me off.
I frowned and turned around, only to see a tall man striding in, arms wide as he rushed toward Scarlett.
Shock rooted me in place as I watched Scarlett step right into his embrace. My chest tightened, and my expression darkened instantly.
“Scarlett Taylor!” I growled, my voice low and dangerous. “Do I not exist to you anymore?”
