Chapter 57
Flora’s POV:
I was starting to realize the tide was turning against Amelia—fast. And badly. I couldn’t just stand there while things spiraled.
I turned to Scarlett, trying to keep my tone polite. “Miss Taylor, I don’t know what kind of personal issue you and Amelia have going on, but if she’s done anything to rub you the wrong way, could you let it slide… for Mr. Everett’s sake?”
Scarlett gave me a sharp look. “You want me to let it go because of Everett Robinson?”
“Yes.” I nodded firmly. Everett was our trump card—basically our last hope.
She raised a brow, eyes glinting with amusement. Then, with a dismissive shrug and a curling smirk, she said, “Well, that’s gonna be a problem… because Everett Robinson and I? We’re mortal enemies. So anyone on his team? Not welcome here.”
“…”
Robert cleared his throat and gave a strained half-smile. “Yeah, uh… things between Mr. Robinson and Miss Scarlett are, let’s say, not exactly friendly.”
Translation: stop bringing up Everett. It’s not helping.
