Everett’s POV
Hearing Bruce mention Adriana, my expression shifted—just barely.
She was Scarlett’s age, still in college. Bruce once called her a sweet, naive girl, but girls that age usually carried all sorts of dreamy notions about love.
I couldn’t help wondering… was Scarlett the same?
“So tell me—what exactly is a simp?”
Bruce chuckled. “Wow. For a big, straight guy, you really have no clue, huh?”
I frowned, staring at him in silence.
He raised his glass again. “Forget it. I’ll get my sister to explain. Girls get how other girls think.”
Exactly what I was hoping for. “Great. Call her. Now.”
He gawked. “Are you nuts? Do you even know what time it is? She’s in the dorm—lights out hours ago!”
“And? Her phone stops working after lights out?”
Bruce cursed under his breath. “With EQ like that, no wonder your girl ran for the hills!”

I just wanted answers. What did emotional intelligence have to do with it?
“Isn’t your sister in film school?”
