Chapter 19
Initially, Taryn wanted to say it was nothing. But when she turned her head and saw Rowan's serious expression, she swallowed the words on the tip of her tongue.
She knew what Rowan was worried about—a newly signed driver having an accident before earning anything. If it had been her, she would have considered it a loss as well.
Taryn took a deep breath. She made up her mind and began to speak slowly.
This had once been a painful memory for her, but now, bringing it up again didn't hurt as much. Without her realizing it, the wounds had already scabbed over.
"It's not much, really. It was just a penetrating wound in my back and near my heart. It's also somewhat related to my former fiance. But don't worry, boss. It definitely won't affect the race."
Taryn spoke lightly, but Rowan understood the danger involved. He felt unusually tense, a deep heartache enveloping him completely.
