Chapter 21

Everything before Zane's eyes seemed completely reversed. A desire for revenge rose in Taryn's heart. She stared straight at Zane and said, "Just as you chose Bernice during the explosion back then, I'm choosing to protect Rowan today for the same reason." This brief sentence made Zane feel as if thousands of blades were stabbing through his heart. He could no longer maintain his composure, and tears began to slide from his eyes without him realizing it. He unconsciously clutched his aching heart.
