Chapter 23
The race officially began. With the sound of the starting gun, all the race cars shot off and quickly disappeared from view.
All the cars captured on camera were soon displayed on split screens, and almost instantly, Rowan spotted Taryn.
Her striking face flashed across the big screen.
As he watched her cleanly navigate turn after turn, Rowan felt his adrenaline gradually surge, and his heart pounded wildly. This was the feeling—no one but Taryn could make him feel this way.
In just a few minutes, the situation on the racetrack had changed. All the cars were now split into three groups. The first ones to start were leading the pack, and Taryn was among them.
Zane and Bernice were in the last group.
Zane wasn't really there to race. His entire focus was on the car Taryn was driving.
If Taryn placed first, he could only be second. He had already decided that no matter what place Taryn finished in, he would finish just one place behind her.
