Chapter 1003 You’re Free to Ask For Anything

The door to the study was closed. Sam could hardly contain his excitement. “Sir, we’ve got news from the eye specialists!” Brendan’s eyes twinkled in pleasant surprise. “He’s here?” “Not yet. But there’s a young woman who’s close to him. When her grandfather’s eyes were damaged, she brought the specialist to get them cured. She must know how to contact the specialist.” “And who is she?” “Emily Collins.” “Emily Collins?” The name rang a bell. “Oh. The only child of a family of doctors.” “Yes!” Sam nodded excitedly. “She’s been studying abroad for years, right? She returned this week for her father’s funeral. This is our chance to get her to contact that eye specialist.” Brendan mulled over it for two seconds. “Contact her. Arrange our meeting.” Sam immediately went to work. As Brendan looked at the venue and time, he frowned. He had never talked to this Emily Collins before, but he had heard of her prideful nature. The Collins was one of the most elite families in the country, which would make striking a deal with her difficult. He thought of Deirdre’s eyes and the despondence in her visage when she was reminded of it. It bolstered his resolve. He had to try. He owed her this much. He changed into his suit and went downstairs. “I got to head out for a while,” he told Deirdre. “Will be back soon.” “Where are you going?” Brendan opted not to tell the truth. He still had no idea if Emily would decide to help him or not. Before he got a confirmation, he would rather not get her hopes up. “To my office.” Deirdre nodded. A thought came to her, and she removed the scarf from her neck and wrapped it around his shoulder. “You’re still recovering, Brendan. You should use this. Come home early.” Brendan’s eyes softened. “Will do.” Brendan reached the venue about ten minutes earlier than planned, but Emily was already there. With her hair worn into a horsetail, she was beautiful, regal, and, most importantly, dignified in a way that displayed uncontainable pride. She turned to look at Brendan. Admiration and impressed awe filled her eyes. “Mr. Brighthall! Your reputation as a handsome man always sounded like an exaggeration, but now that I see it with my eyes, I must concede to its veracity. Had I known you could look this good, I would have returned from abroad sooner than now.” Emily did not attempt to disguise how much she liked what she was seeing, while Brendan thought little of it. He removed his coat and hung it beside him before cutting straight to the chase. “Miss Collins, you know an eye specialist, don’t you?” Emily raised an eyebrow. “Oh? You’re direct, aren’t you? Seeing no need for preambles, I presume?” Brendan thinned his lips. “We both know we’re here to do business, so let’s get straight to the point. Miss Collins, I need that person to come to Neve for an operation. I’ll gladly offer anything in exchange.” “Anything?” Emily laughed. “Your generosity is astounding. Aren’t you afraid I might ask for, say, 20% of the Brighthall Group’s shares?” “That can be done,” Brendan replied immediately, without hesitation. Emily was stunned. The 20% of the shares was by no means a small number. She could buy as many hospitals as she wanted with money like that. She reeled out of her shock and propped her chin with the thick of her palm. “Now I’m curious. Who in your family is so terribly in need of an eye specialist that you would do anything to get that doctor over here? Is it a family member? A dear friend?” “My lover.” Emily tittered. “Now, now. Everybody knows your relationship just went south, Mr. Brighthall. Your lover’s in prison, right? Did her cell mates injure her?”
