Chapter 991 Surprise Attack
Charlene kept her head lowered and breathed heavily as if she was conflicted.
Deirdre said, “Since you wish to close the deal with me, I’ll transfer you out of the country in less than two weeks after you give me the information.”
“Are you sure?” Charlene clenched her fists tightly.
Deirdre said instead of answering, “You can only choose to believe me.”
“Sure…” Charlene stared at her maliciously. “You have to swear that you won’t deceive me, Deirdre. Otherwise, I’ll curse the child in your womb to a tragic death!”
Deirdre furrowed her eyebrows. “Sure.”
Charlene lowered her head and spoke slowly. “They made your father’s identity very clear, but I didn’t manage to find out about this person. I don’t know if it’s an alias, but I know that he visited Southedge previously.”
“Southedge?” Deirdre was stunned for a moment because she had never heard of it. “What place is that? Why haven’t I heard of it before? You made that up, right?”
Charlene sneered. “You’ll find out if I made that up when you ask around after you leave, right?”
Deirdre considered and figured that Charlene was right. She did have the time and opportunity to verify the information.
“What is my father’s identity then? What is his name, and where is he working?”
“His name…” Charlene appeared to be having trouble breathing. “His name… is…”
She chanted a name, but Deirdre could not hear the words clearly despite her sensitive hearing.
It was so muffled.
She took one step forward. “What is his name?”
Charlene held her chest and said, “Is… Is…”
Deirdre furrowed her eyebrows tightly and listened closely. The next moment, she suddenly realized something was off and wanted to back away. Yet, before she could respond, Charlene stopped assuming her sickly, gasping state and mustered the strength to stand up strenuously with her only leg before pouncing on Deirdre.
Deirdre fell back and hit her head hard on the ground. Her vision turned blurry, and her head hurt.
Soon afterward, Charlene clutched her throat ferociously, and Deirdre could not breathe anymore. Soon, Deirdre’s face flushed scarlet from hypoxia.
“Deirdre! I’ve been waiting for so long! I waited for close to a week for this day to come!” Charlene’s gaze was wild and savage. “You b*tch! How dare you ruin my face!? I have nothing else left for me now, yet you still want to learn about your father? Hahaha! Dream on! I want you dead now! Die!”
Charlene lost her initial weak, sickly demeanor. She was now flooded with ferocity while Deirdre felt like she was about to lose consciousness. She grabbed Charlene’s hands with her hands and inhaled a breath with great difficulty.
“Charlene, if you kill me… don’t even think about getting out of here for the rest of your life!”
“Get out of here?” Charlene burst out with a burst of frantic laughter upon hearing that. “My face is disfigured, and I’ve lost mobility and reputation! Everything of mine has turned into mush! So what if I can get out of here? I would rather die at once!”
Charlene’s face was filled with intense hatred. “However, I can’t let myself die just like that! Why should I die? Why should I die when a b*tch like you took everything of mine, yet you’re still safe and sound? Even if I have to die, I’m taking you with me! I’m going to make you lose everything you have!”
She exerted more strength in her grip over Deirdre’s throat while she was roaring hysterically. Deirdre’s face turned green from prolonged hypoxia. She struggled with her hands before she lost consciousness.
Charlene only loosened her grasp when she was certain Deirdre had lost consciousness.
She would not let Deirdre off so easily!
Charlene got off Deirdre and crawled to the head of the bed to grab the tile she had hidden there from the start.
