Chapter 565
Sydney sneered in anger, "Outsider? Are you talking about me? Stop joking around, Samuel. Have you forgotten who your investors are? And why didn't you see me as an outsider when you asked me to wash your underwear for you?"
Samuel frowned. "That's in the past now. You didn't help when Gordon swallowed his pride back in Belchester City. Sydney, things can't go back to the way they were. I've already changed the lock to the apartment. Don't show up here again."
"I was just upset and only meant to mess around. Who knew he would be that useless?"
They all knew that Sydney was straightforward and blunt, but they all realized that Mayra was right about her being untrustworthy later on.
Mayra's words were precise.
Since then, they kept the collaboration with Sydney's studio but maintained a certain distance with her.
"Sydney, only time can tell one's true nature. Gordon and I aren't fools. Let's just keep our distance and do our duties."
"Don't be ungrateful," Sydney said, but Samuel shut her outside the door regardless.
Mayra listened to the sounds from outside and turned her gaze from the door to Gordon. "They're arguing out there. Aren't you going to check on them?"
"Samuel will handle it. I… I'm sorry. I've been so busy that I couldn't go see you. Something went wrong with the studio, and we're currently handling a lawsuit."
Gordon seemed exhausted, and she touched his cheeks. "I understand. I don't blame you. That's why I'm here. I know that you'd come to Belchester City to see me if you weren't busy."
He had never imagined that he would be so lucky to meet someone like her.
He had lost weight.
She knew that Gordon must have gone through a lot of hardship for him to achieve the success he did in her past life. She appeared in his life at a later stage after Emily had already suffered most of the hardship alongside him.
Mayra merely enjoyed the fruit of their hard work and everything Gordon had to offer.
She could now stay by his side and work hard alongside him as well. Whatever Emily did for him in the past life, she was willing to do the same and watch as Gordon slowly built his own empire.
"I noticed that you and Samuel look a little nervous. Are you looking for something?"
"We're looking for an evidence drawing for the lawsuit. Have you seen it?"
"It's probably in the drawer on your left. See if that's the one you're looking for."
Gordon opened the drawer and said, "That's the one. Rest here. I'll come home to you once everything is done."
She nodded and didn't make a fuss. "Go ahead. I'll work on my homework."
Gordon stood hurriedly to leave, and she called out to him, "Since we're now next to each other, aren't you going to give me a hug?"
He held her tight, but only for a few moments.
"Go on. Come home soon," she said.
"Alright."
Seeing his retreating figure, a sorrowful look crossed her eyes.
