“Team up?” he echoed, a little caught off guard. Then he reached over and gently brushed a stray lock of hair from my face, like he was playing with a kitten. “I’m listening.”
I pressed my lips together and said firmly, “I’ll break off the engagement with Jason—but only after I’ve dug out why he wants me dead and found the proof. Until then, don’t interfere or leak anything that might make it harder for me to get close to him.”
Henry frowned. “There are plenty of ways to investigate, why stay by his side? I can help you.”
