Right now, Lena Carter’s calls for help had completely gone silent. Jason must’ve believed she was beyond saving, that’s why he felt safe enough to leave her behind.
I took a flashlight from one of the boatmen and shone it across the lake. The only thing I could see were ripples spreading out. No sign of Lena anywhere.
