Chapter 209 Mrs Gates Didn't Return
After dinner, Seth volunteered to take Nancy home. Sebastian didn't even get a chance to object.
Night had fallen by the time he returned to Gates Manor alone.
Taylor stood to the side, his head lowered and his posture straight as a blade. He dared not make a sound, not even breathe too loudly.
Sebastian came back alone.
And he came back with a fury cold enough to freeze a man to death.
Martha walked over, carrying a plate of sliced fruit and carefully setting it on the coffee table. When she saw that only Sebastian was there, a flicker of confusion crossed her face. "Mr. Gates, did Mrs. Gates not come back with you?"
Sebastian's hand paused on the cup, but he didn't answer.
The tension in the air was palpable.
Martha felt the weight of his gaze, and her heart trembled. She didn't dare ask more, hurriedly finding an excuse to slip away.
The clear and dangerous clink of porcelain meeting wood followed.
Sebastian said, "Taylor."
