Chapter 24 Do Not Do It Yourself
After getting into the Maybach parked by the curb, Sebastian carefully settled Nancy onto the leather seat beside him.
As soon as she steadied herself, she instinctively shifted toward the door, putting as much distance between them as she could.
She rubbed her sore arm, the skin still marked by the angry red welt left from someone's grip.
"I could've walked on my own. You didn't have to carry me out."
Her voice was cool and distant.
Sebastian shut the door and slid in beside her. The enclosed space was filled instantly with his cold presence, the weight of it pressing down until the air felt thin.
He didn't speak. He merely turned, settling his deep, dark gaze on her, sharp and unreadable.
Nancy wondered what Sebastian was playing at.
She shifted under his stare, feeling uneasy. Her first thought was that he'd come to interrogate her.
After all, she'd just met with his sworn enemy, Joseph, right under his nose.
