Chapter 7 I Can Do Worse Than That
Nancy's eyes flew wide open.
The first time, when she had saved him and he had crossed the line, she had told herself it was the drugs talking. But this time, he was fully aware, and he was deliberately tormenting her.
Fury mixed with revulsion as she fought back with all her strength. The instant she broke free, she scrubbed at her lips hard, her face showing nothing but raw disgust.
"Sebastian, I'm here to treat you. Keep this up, and I'll poison you myself."
Sebastian said nothing, his eyes fixed on her blatant display of disgust. Anger coiled inside him, though he couldn't quite name the source. All he knew was that the moment he believed she was working with Joseph, that rage had never left.
"So kissing you is disgusting? Who do you want kissing you then?"
Before she could respond, he slid out of bed and closed the distance between them, step by step. In a split second, his arm clamped around her waist. She fought hard, thrashing so violently it was as if she truly wanted to kill him.
Rage burned in his chest, yet his face carried a chilling smile. "One little kiss and you're already falling apart? Not very professional of you, Ms. Sullivan. After all, I was planning on doing a lot more."
He wanted to see just how far she would go for Joseph's sake.
His grip was iron-clad—nothing like a typical patient's. Every time she managed to wrench herself free, he ensnared her again, dragging her back into his arms as if he had been trained for this.
Before Nancy could process what was happening, Sebastian's mouth was at her ear, teeth grazing her earlobe as his breath trailed across her skin. His voice dropped low, mocking and suggestive. "For example… getting to know you a whole lot deeper."
What a pervert!
This time, she truly snapped. The infuriating bastard had crossed the line—forcing her lips apart and invading her mouth with shameless arrogance, as if he owned the right to do so.
Bastard!
She bit down hard.
He winced and let go, his voice sharp with fury. "You actually bit me!"
She sprang to her feet, eyes blazing. "I bit you? I'll do worse than that—I'll ruin you!"
With that, she drove her foot viciously toward his groin. Not bothering to retrieve her fallen shoe, she bolted for the door.
Filthy scum. She should have left him to die.
Hearing Sebastian's pained voice, Taylor rushed in. Seeing Sebastian's face drained of color, he panicked. "Mr. Gates, are you feeling unwell? I'll get the doctor right away!"
"Don't you dare." Sebastian's gaze was razor-sharp as he growled, "Where did Nancy go?"
"She just ran out. Our men followed, but she was too fast and they lost her. Do you want me to send more people after her?"
"No. She hasn't finished her assignment. She'll come back on her own." His eyes narrowed, then he added, "Look into her. I want to know exactly what she has to do with Joseph."
"What's there to investigate? Joseph chases anything in a skirt. A beauty like her? Of course, he would sink his claws into her. Why else would she risk her life to get close to you if not because she was working for him?"
The more Taylor muttered, the darker Sebastian's face became.
He had to admit that Nancy was different. Ever since that night at the age of 16, when Joseph drugged him and he nearly ended up in Michael's mistress's bed, he hadn't been able to stand women. The moment any woman came within three feet of him, he felt like he couldn't breathe.
It had lasted ten years.
Only with Nancy did nothing happen. Otherwise, he never would have deliberately provoked her tonight just to test it. Was it true that only she could get close to him, or was his condition somehow cured?
Sebastian paused in thought, then cast a sharp glance at Taylor. "Find me a woman to stay with me tonight."
Taylor's eyes bulged as if he had misheard. "Mr. Gates, are you sure?"
"Stop asking stupid questions. Just do as I say."
Seeing Sebastian's temper flare, Taylor hurried off to do as he was told.
