Chapter 2

Antoinette came downstairs in half an hour. Steve Gu was already in the car. He was wearing a dark suit today, and it contrasted heavily against his very light skin. The sight of him instantly aroused her desire. She couldn't help swallowing. Why didn’t I notice how good this man looks? Of only just for his appearance and figure, he can easily be a movie star. On top of that, he has power and wealth that most people can only dream of attaining. Was your brain gnawed by a pig? Why would anyone want to leave such a good husband, and run off with a scumbag! She silently chided herself as she got into the car and greeted him, "Husband." Steve Gu didn't react. Instead, Cassey Yu in front of him was so surprised that she hit her hand against the steering wheel. The horn awkwardly blared . Seeing the stern look from his boss on the rearview mirror, she quickly lowered her head and apologized. Antoinette Yun bit her lip and stretched out her hand to embrace his arm. "Husband, I was wrong, I won't ask you for a divorce in the future." Steve Gu finally turned his head to look at her. His eyes fell on her fair and beautiful face, but the words he uttered were extremely indifferent. "Now you’re all soft? What tricks does Mrs. Gu want to play this time?" Antoinette didn’t know what to say. I was too deceitful in my previous life, and so I can’t expect him to trust me just like that. Fortunately, now she had plenty of time to prove herself to him, and gain his trust. Steve snorted. For the rest of the trip, neither husband nor wife said anything. Soon, the car arrived at the hotel. Most of the guests had arrived, and the magnificent banquet hall was full of excitement. As soon as she stepped into the hall, she saw that Grandpa was standing and chatting with some high-profile media personalities. Antoinette's eyes were almost tearful as she rushed to him. “Grandpa!” Mr. Ye was smiling and greeting everyone. Hearing the sound, he turned around and saw her running towards him, and he was overjoyed. "Toni? Why didn't you tell Grandpa you’ll be here? Grandpa would have asked your uncles to pick you up." Antoinette rushed into his arms like a little girl. She hugged him tightly. "Oh Grandpa, I can't possibly wait for my uncles to come pick me up." Grandpa had lived for so many years, but he hadn't seen her look this happy. His heart melted. Antoinette was deeply moved. Before she'd been given this second chance, Alexandra had planted seeds of discontent in her head. She had thought that grandpa he treated her cousins better than her, so she always lost her temper with him. It wasn't until just before he died that she learned that Grandpa was the person who loved her the most in the world. But by then, it was too late. Alexandra herself had made sure he really did die. And Antoinette wasn’t even able to see him one last time before he expired. It was really tragic. Just then, a gentle voice came from behind her. "Sister, you’re here." Antoinette stiffened, slowly raised her head, and saw Alexandra. Her face looked delicate. And she was wearing a formal dress. Alexandra Yun walked towards her with their father. Mr. Yun frowned when she saw her hugging her grandfather. "What are you, a little girl? Grow up, Toni. Act like a woman." Before Antoinette could say anything, Grandpa quickly berated him. "What's the matter with my granddaughter acting like a little girl with me? You are so young yet you’re quite old-fashioned. No wonder Toni doesn't kiss you." With that, he grabbed Antoinette and walked to the other side. "Toni, let's ignore him, Grandpa will take you to meet some friends." Antoinette followed Mr. Ye obediently, and soon Steve Gu was also ushered away by Antoinette's second uncle, Chris Ye. Alexandra Yun stood there and smiled reluctantly. "Dad, please don't blame her. She’s really naive." Originally, Mr. Yun didn't think much of it, but when she said that, his face immediately sank. He left with a cold face, Alexandra Yun lowered her eyes slightly, and a successful smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. Grandpa took Antoinette to proudly show her off to his old friends, until everyone had seen his precious granddaughter. And then he let her go. Antoinette finally took the opportunity and was about to go to Steve Gu, but she was stopped by Alexandra. She pulled her to a corner. In a concerned voice, she asked, “Toni, after Steve caught you last night, what happened to you?" Antoinette Yun rolled her eyes. "It's nothing." "It's okay, you can tell me. Do you know that I was so scared when I heard about it, I was so worried about you..." At this moment, her gaze suddenly fell on Antoinette's neck. The original gentle tone suddenly became sharp. "What's on your neck?" Antoinette Yun subconsciously covered her neck. It only took a second to understand. Steve Gu was always obedient to her, and it seemed he would always be unconditionally tolerant no matter what she did. Apparently, she had crossed the line when she eloped with another man. In the other timeline, he had pinned her down on the bed and violently raped her. No matter how she cried and struggled, it was useless. She felt…weak. At the time, he seemed stronger than he normally was, perhaps due to the adrenalin rush that his anger had caused. So it was at that moment that she learned that her husband also had a temper. But he usually suppressed his temper, and was always gentle with her. Except for that night. Last night, she hadn’t struggled at all. In the other timeline, he did not have a chance to give her a hickey but last night, she had lain still and let him have his way with her. It was too dark to be covered by the concealer, but she thought a dress that covered her neck would hide it. Antoinette Yun pretended to be lost. "What else could it be? You are an adult, you should know what that is." Alexandra Yun's pupils widened. "So... he took you last night?"
