That was the most disheveled I had ever seen Daniel. His beard was unshaven, his hair was messy, and dark circles hung under his eyes. But the moment he saw me, he ran straight toward me. "Miranda!" William blocked his path before he could reach me. "What do you think you're doing to my fiancée?" William stood in front of me with that perfectly polite smile of his, but I could sense the tension crackling between the two men. Daniel froze for a second, then grabbed William's collar angrily. "Your fiancée? She's my girlfriend!" William's expression instantly darkened. Even in his family, he was someone no one dared to challenge. If it weren't for him accompanying Alice and me on this outing, someone like Daniel would never have gotten close to him.
