My lips parted to retort but she beat me to it again, cutting me off.
“The police would be here any minute, Ethan.
I’ve called them.
She would have to pay for her crimes this time.
I won’t ever let get away with killing the old master,” she cried as she went on her knees beside Ethan, hugging him.
I stared at her in shock, her words reeling in my head as I trembled.
“Police…what?
I did not kill the old master,
I had no idea that he was even in here for God’s sake,” I shouted, although my voice sounded too soft to carry the strength that I needed.
And right at that moment, the door banged open as armed men entered the room, dressed in police uniform.
I watched as Jennifer untangled herself from Ethan, standing up in glee.
A smug smile tugged on her lips which she quickly hid as she ran towards them in tears.
