Chapter 104
Alejandro's POV
I had had enough of blood. I'm sick of seeing children grow up believing that bullets are commonplace, as if gunshots outside the window were a part of bedtime lullabies.
These days, I hardly recognize the person I see in the mirror. My jaw was clenched as if it had forgotten how to relax, and my eyes were red from restless nights. Not because I was brave, but because I had witnessed too much, my hands stopped shaking.
I called them all that evening. I called each and every one of them. I once vowed never to stand next to those people. They ranged from rogue police officers to street rats and former gang leaders. Ramon, too. Once, behind the nightclub by Zona Roja, that bastard attempted to cut my throat. The scar was still there. What happened this evening? Like we were best friends, he sipped flat beer across from me.
He questioned, "Are you serious about this?"
I gave a nod. "Unless we force him to stop, Santiago won't stop."
"You're completely insane."
"Probably."
