At the same time, in the president's office of Wilson Corporation, Zachary ended the call with a smile. He casually tossed his phone onto the desk.
By the floor-to-ceiling window behind him, Jennifer stood with her arms crossed, staring at him in disbelief. She couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"Zach, you're truly something else! You sold Ashton out, and he even thanked you for it?"
Every word Zachary had just said was flawless. If she didn't already know the full story, she might have believed he was genuinely a good friend looking out for Ashton.
But he had been the one who'd dragged her out of bed last night, insisting she take on Juliet's case. He had repeatedly stressed that she had to help Juliet get the divorce completed cleanly and thoroughly. Ideally, Juliet would end up despising Ashton so much that she would never consider reconciliation.
And now, he had turned around and told Ashton it was all to buy time?
