Chapter 5

Back in the ward, Suzy was already awake. She opened her eyes and looked at the ceiling. Those eyes were hollow and there was a scent of sadness that lingered on her. As Max clenched his fist, he walked to her bed and said in a deep voice, "What happened three years ago has nothing to do with you. It's not your fault if the doctor chose to save you first!" Her eyes blinked, but she didn't speak but still stared at the ceiling in a daze. "The Jeric always thought that you killed your sister. He always felt that you asked the doctor to save you first. Why didn't you tell him the truth?!" A tear fell down the corner of her eye, and the room was silent. He closed his fists tight and turned around abruptly, "I'm going to find him!" "Don't!" He heard the astringent voice behind him. He stopped and turned around slowly. Suzy had turned her head and looked at him with sadness, "Don't tell him. Don't say anything to him. Please don't." "Why?!" A few steps in a hurry, he rushed to the hospital bed. His nose contracted and he breathe rapidly, "You let him misunderstand things this way, let him torture you like this and trample on you!" Tears fell from her eyes. "I know he is also in pain. All he has been in love with is my sister and not me. It is my choice. It is my volition. No asked for it!" "Nonsense!" "I'm not talking nonsense, Max. Don't go to him. Please don't go! That car accident three years ago hurt us all. He couldn't save my sister. He didn't even see my sister for the last time. He has always blamed himself and felt guilty. He hates me and that hate is his driving force to live." "So, you didn't even explain it!" Max looked at her with hatred. "No, I tried to explain it, but he didn't believe it. Now...", she said and paused. The light in her eyes dimmed little by little and continued, "There is no need to explain. Max, promise me not to talk to him. Instead of making him feel guilty, I'd rather choose that he hates me so he lives." "Why are you so stupid!?" He slowly squatted down in front of the hospital bed and held her hand tightly. Such a pair of hands are so thin and petite in his palm as if they would break with a little effort. Her fingertips are cold and there is almost no body heat. How can Jeric hurt her like this? He tried to bear his heart to hurt her! "No one has ever become a fool if he's moved." She smiled bitterly, "My sister gave up and saved me. Does that mean she is stupid? If Jeric is torturing me hard for my sister, does that mean he's also stupid? And you... …" She tried to lift her eyes. She looked at him with full of guilt and apology, "Max, thank you and I'm sorry." "That's a silly thing to say! Why do you have to say these words to me?" Holding her hand tightly, he said, "Take care of your body and don't think about anything else. Not that you're with me, I won't make you suffer anymore." The corners of her lips curled up and gave him a weak smile. Leaning, Max kissed her on the forehead and they smiled at each other. —— The night is as cool as water. Beatrice took a bath and wore a sexy sling gown. She's wearing the fragrance of the shower gel. However, she did not see Jeric. She walked around and finally came to the living room and saw his stiff back. "Jeric?", she called softly as she walked over slowly. On the ground, there was a long strip of dried blood stains. Because it was already a little dry, the red also turned dark and the air was faintly smelling like blood. He furrowed his brows deeply. He raised his head, looked at the half-open door, and the wind from outside rolled in. "Ah, it's really cold!" Beatrice walked over and closed the door very naturally. She then wrapped her hands in his hands. "It seems like what Suzy felt was true. But since you got a bad temper, you got angry at her. So, I think whether the door is closed or not, people will still freeze to death!" "You said... she's gone?" He seemed to be wandering and still not convinced that she really left like this. The divorce agreement he had thrown away was still scattered on the ground. He thought it was just another method of her. But, did she really leave?
