Chapter 7
Andre supported Gabriel's arm.
My baby had been buried in the dirt for some time. Even though the medical examiner had urgently cleaned the surface with formaldehyde and removed many of the maggots, the body had already started to decompose.
If they didn't bury him soon, bacteria would spread. Having gotten his answer, Gabriel didn't linger. He placed the child in the coffin and headed toward Crow Mountain.
A priest blessed my baby and chanted prayers, hoping he would be able to rest well. I stood nearby watching them bury him, hands clasped together, praying along with them.
When the ceremony ended, I felt that invisible force pulling me again. I could only quickly memorize the location of my baby's headstone before finding myself back at Gabriel's side.
Gabriel had just finished paying and was tiredly rubbing his temples when Andre spoke up, "Mr. Dutton, the police station called."
"Did that bastard Lucas finally report her missing?"
