Chapter 20
Giselle tightened her grip on her phone and quickened her pace. Behind her, the black Range Rover crept forward, always maintaining a calculated distance.
It felt like a cruel game of cat and mouse—where the cat toyed with its prey, knowing escape was impossible.
By the time she reached the bus stop, her back was soaked in cold sweat. Relief was short-lived. She checked the schedule and froze.
The last bus had stopped running at 12:30 am. It was now 2:30 am.
Her vision blurred for a moment, and she nearly collapsed. Leaning against the bus stop sign, she fumbled with her phone to book a cab just as the Range Rover pulled up in front of her.
The screen displayed 911. One tap, and she'd be calling the police.
The window rolled down slowly, revealing a sharp, handsome face that radiated cold detachment. Giselle stayed on guard.
With one hand on the wheel, the man—Reagan Simmon—glanced over. In the darkness, his deep-set eyes locked onto hers.
"Need a ride?" he asked.
