Realizing that Penelope was still there, Giselle stopped herself from cursing. "Did you even hear the whole story?"
Gavin stood there, calm and composed. "Since you were able to react and defend yourself, it shows you had control over Mrs. Lockwood, and she posed no real threat to you. Yet you still slapped her. Giselle, apologize to Mrs. Lockwood."
Giselle ground her teeth. "No way!"
With that, she grabbed Penelope's hand, ready to leave.
But Penelope held onto Gavin's hand, refusing to move. "Mommy, I think Daddy's right. Hitting someone out of anger isn't right. You should apologize to this lady."
Giselle's heart sank.
She crouched down. "Poppy, I've told you before, if someone doesn't provoke me, I won't provoke them. But if they do, I will defend myself. If this lady hadn't tried to hit me, why would I even hit her?"
