Sebastian stared at Vivienne, whose composed face carried just a hint of sharpness beneath the calm. After a moment, he asked, "You already handled the crisis smoothly, so why press so hard on her?"
Vivienne met his eyes. "Do you think I'm deliberately targeting Ms. Schafer?"
Sebastian didn't answer, but his silence said enough. She knew this was his way of admitting it.
Vivienne gave a soft, cold laugh. "Let me guess—you think I speak fluent Cavarian, and that's how I turned the situation around. So, since it all worked out in the end, why not spare her the consequences? Right?"
His gaze darkened. "Wasn't that the case?"
"Well, let me be clear then," she said calmly. "I don't speak Cavarian at all."

"That's right." Vivienne's lips curved into a cold smile. "But that proposal was sent to me by your team in advance. I'd studied it thoroughly, over and over. Lucky for me, I have a decent memory.
