Chapter 128
Since it was the weekend and a family gathering, Matthew decided not to use a driver. He drove Serena himself, while Connor took Bianca in another car, the two vehicles heading one after the other toward the Quinn family estate.
Matthew had arranged it that way on purpose—mainly to ditch those two overgrown kids. Bianca and Connor were always so loud and dramatic, he barely got to talk to Serena properly. Even his usually cheerful and chatty little wife had gone quiet lately.
With neither Bianca nor Connor making noise in the car, the silence felt a bit awkward. Both Matthew and Serena seemed to silently agree not to bring up the charity gala.
For Matthew, not mentioning it was a way to avoid reminding himself that she’d only done what she did to save him.
Last night when she’d hinted that she might be falling for him, even though he hadn’t shown any reaction, inside he was honestly over the moon. Maybe he was just that type—quiet on the surface, wild underneath.
“How are you feeling?”
