Chapter 86
Serena tossed and turned all night.
It wasn’t like she was heartbroken—honestly, it was just two texts, and she hadn’t even seen Dylan in person yet. But thinking about her current situation gave her a real headache. She wasn’t someone who could just do whatever she wanted anymore. Marriage had tied her down. And truthfully, deep down, she didn’t really want to leave Matthew either.
Early the next morning, Matthew looked at her with concern. “You look wiped out. Didn’t sleep well?”
She quickly forced a smile and shook her head like it was no big deal, not wanting him to pick up on anything.
How would she even tell him Dylan was back and wanted to meet? Would he get upset? This whole marriage started out as a means to an end—maybe meeting up with an old friend wouldn’t be such a big deal. But knowing Matthew’s possessive streak, he’d probably see her as some kind of property anyway...
So forget it. She’d already decided not to tell him—no point dragging trouble out of the shadows.
