Chapter 26
Julian asked harshly, "Were you the one who put oil paint over the door?"
Alphonse shook his head. "No, I didn't."
There was a flash of panic in Tamara's eyes when she saw that Alphonse had changed his clothes.
Mildred must have told him to do so!
"Alphonse, you borrowed oil paint from me just now. You said you wanted to surprise Mildred, because she's your twin sister and you've never met. Have you forgotten? How could you put oil paint over the door? It might have fallen on someone."
Alphonse blinked and nodded. "Oh, I did put it there."
Tamara breathed a sigh of relief. "Dad, don't blame Alphonse. He just doesn't know any better. It was my fault. I shouldn't have lent him the oil paint."
Mildred was about to speak up for Alphonse when he said, "She told me to put it there."
He pointed at Tamara with a long, slender finger. There was an innocent look in his eyes.
"Dad, she told me to put it there. She said that Mildred would like it."
