Chapter 14
Noah froze. He hadn't expected Penelope to make that request.
Seeing his reaction, Penelope wasn't surprised in the least. The Ingram family was practically untouchable in this city, and suing them was as close to impossible as it got.
Noah's brows pulled together. "Penny, some things… you can't be too impulsive about. I've already heard from Rufus about what happened. After everything Damian has done to hurt you, I swear I have half the mind to tear him apart myself—"
"If you can't help me, then please leave." Penelope cut him off, unwilling to hear another string of useless promises.
Seeing the steely resolve in her eyes, Noah didn't press her. He reached into his jacket, pulled out a business card, and placed it on the table. "If you change your mind, you can always come find me."
With a heavy sigh, he finally turned and walked out of the yard.
Penelope's expression didn't shift. She picked up the card and, without a flicker of hesitation, dropped it straight into the trash.
