"The kids are fine, maybe just a little shaken up. Right now, they're a bit wary of strangers."
The doctor's tone was serious as he looked at Damian. "I recommend having them see a child psychologist. You don't want them to carry any long-term emotional scars."
Even though both children were unharmed, a heavy weight still sat in Damian's chest. He nodded absently at the doctor's last comment, barely processing the words.
"Damian? What's wrong?" Jasmine's eyes were red, and she had to call his name several times before he seemed to hear her.
"Sam and Sia went through a lot this time. Can you stay with them for a while? They've always liked being around you, and having you close might help them recover faster."
Damian pushed down the unease twisting in his gut and pulled her into his arms. "Alright."
Then, his gaze hardened. "By the way, where's the person who took them? Anyone who dares kidnap my kids clearly has a death wish."
