Chapter 7

Emily had assumed her kidnappers were enemies of the Powells. Instead, they brought her to the hospital. Outside the emergency room, Emily saw Ezra scowling in rage. The first thing he did was reprimand her. "Emily! I'm really disappointed in you! No matter how much you despise Clara, you shouldn't have done that to her!" "What are you talking about? Ezra, why did you even bring me to the hospital? All I did was wound her forehead. You have no idea what she did to me!" Ezra's expression darkened. "You slashed the artery on her thigh with a craft knife. She won't stop bleeding. Mrs. Powell told me you two share the same blood type. Rh-negative. Hurry up and donate your blood to her now!" Emily sneered. "Why should I?" He suddenly gripped her shoulders with such force that she thought he could crush them. "That's because Clara saved my mother's life! I owe her a debt of gratitude!" Emily didn't know what that had to do with her. She wasn't in the mood to hear Ezra spouting nonsense. "Let me go. You're hurting me…" "If you still want to be with me, you're not allowed to hurt Clara again. If you donate blood to her, I'll forgive you!" "Why would I even want your forgiveness? I refuse to donate my blood!" Just then, the doctor emerged, urging them to hurry. Before Emily could resist, the bodyguards forced her into the emergency room. As the doctor asked about her donation history, Emily recalled giving blood ten years ago to a woman injured in a car crash. Ezra impatiently asked the doctor to draw more blood. "You must save Clara! Do what you must! Take as much blood as you need!" At that moment, Emily suddenly felt that Ezra was a stranger to her. She began to struggle in protest. "I object!" she cried. "I was in a car accident days ago. You can't make me donate that much blood!" Ezra pinned her wrists and adjusted the flow rate himself to the maximum. "Be quiet! Em, Clara's your sister and my lifesaver. Since you love me, you must help me repay the favor. I promise you I'll do everything I can!" The blood drained quickly, and dizziness soon washed over Emily. Her lips parted, but she couldn't speak. The sight of Emily lying obediently on the hospital bed finally put Ezra at ease. He was right—Emily still cared about him. After a large amount of blood from Emily, Clara's condition finally began to stabilize. The doctor reminded Ezra. "Ms. Clara has a bleeding disorder, so we needed more blood to prevent hemolysis. She needs to be more careful and avoid bumps and scrapes. Even a small wound should be treated immediately." A bleeding disorder? Ezra furrowed his brows. Thinking he didn't understand, the nurse kindly explained the basics of a bleeding disorder to him. But Ezra caught onto the main point and asked, "Can someone with a bleeding disorder even donate blood?" "Absolutely not! It's way too dangerous…" "Mr. Newman! Ms. Clara's awake!" Ezra turned away and hurried to the hospital room to check on Clara. With her bleeding disorder, she shouldn't even be donating blood. Still, she did so for Polly, who had been extremely sick back then. Suddenly, Ezra felt he owed Clara more than ever. Emily clutched her head, trying to fight off her dizziness as she staggered to Clara's ward. Ezra patted Clara's back gently. "Clara, I'm glad you're okay. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known what to—" "Ez, don't blame Emily. She just loves you too much, so she overreacted." "No! You're wrong!" Emily forced herself to remain steady as she spat out in response. "I threw the box at you because you're a bitch. But I didn't stab your thigh with a knife. I already hit you. I'm not afraid to admit it!" Emily looked over at Ezra, who stared at her blankly. "You forced me to donate blood. For that, I no longer love you. "Don't you dare use that against me. I hate you! Ezra, the one thing I regret the most in my life is being with you!" Emily watched Ezra approach her, seeming rather menacing. He slapped her across the face, causing her cheek to swell instantly.
