Chapter 10
Third-Person POV:
After Jennifer left, Silas remained alone in the funeral parlor for a long while. He tucked Roxanne's phone in his pocket in a mechanical motion and roamed aimlessly along the streets.
When Silas finally returned to his senses, he found himself standing outside the old house. He looked up at the familiar window above, seeing how rusted and dusty it had gotten.
Silas recalled how Roxanne used to love waiting for him to come back home while curled up in that very spot. But Roxanne wasn't going to be there anymore.
Silas went inside.
The construction workers were doing their work in the building. The entire place was a mess, and there was no longer any trace of Silas and Roxanne's lives here.
All the old items in the house had been piled up in a corner. There were Roxanne's favorite lamps, some furniture they'd picked out together, and even the dining cutlery they used to use…
Sadness filled him as his eyes swept across the pile. His gaze finally landed on a water
