Chapter 12
Third-Person POV:
Roxanne had written an entire page in her final entry, but Silas wasn't mentioned in any of it save the final sentence.
Silas' eyes were helplessly downcast as guilt and sadness rolled off of him in waves.
Roxanne must've been so scared, spending her last days all alone. If the pain from a mere injection was enough to frighten her, the pain from pancreatic cancer must've been torture for her.
She even had to watch as her husband held his mistress close in his arms while her own life hung by a thread…
Silas couldn't imagine just how agonizing that must've been for her.
He had actually decided that Roxanne was the one for him for the rest of his life the moment he confessed his love to her all those years ago. He had envisioned their future together countless times, all of which ended in lifelong happiness.
