Carol carefully tended to Damien, not knowing that Derrick had already been tormented beyond repair and that Damien was fully aware of her misdeeds.
She still tried to win him over with tenderness and care. She even imitated Tamara, cooking his favorite dishes and making his favorite coffee, only for Damien to completely disregard her efforts and refuse to let her into his room.
That day, Carol prepared a bowl of soup Damien liked and carried it to the master bedroom door. She then said softly, her voice brimming with concern, "You should have something to eat, Mr. Rayleigh. You haven't been eating properly for the past few days, and your health will suffer if you keep this up."
Damien opened the door, his gaze vacant as he stared Carol down. He then broke into a frigid, profoundly scornful smile, asking, "Do you honestly think this pretense will allow you to take Tammy's place?"
