Chapter 5 What Right Do You Have
At 9:00 pm, I put on heavy makeup in an effort to cover my pale complexion.
I sent Cedric a text after putting on the red heels.
"There's a class reunion tonight. I'll be back late, so don't wait for me."
After that, I turned off my phone, hailed a taxi, and went to Club Nightfall.
Club Nightfall was the most lavish spending den in Devisport. It was also Jason's turf.
I stopped before a private room that was filled with smoke and noise.
Jason sat in the center, flanked by women on his left and right. When he saw me enter, he pushed the women aside and patted the empty spot next to him.
"Come here. Make way for our superstar."
The group of sycophants around him started to jeer.
"Yo, so this is Emily? She's even hotter in person than on TV."
"What a shame she got with a guy who cuts up corpses. How unfortunate."
"I heard that the forensic doctor is super stiff. Emily the Gorgeous must be feeling pretty lonely, huh?"
Their foul remarks kept buzzing in my ears.
I walked over numbly. I didn't sit down and just looked coldly at Jason.
"I brought everything you want. Leave Cedric alone."
I took out a pre-signed "Servitude Agreement" from my bag. It was a ten-year, grossly unfair entertainment contract.
Jason didn't take the contract from me. Instead, he poured out some liquor into a glass and held it out to me.
"What's the hurry? Have a drink first. Let's catch up," he said smugly.
It was a full glass of extremely strong whiskey. I didn't want to drink, but two bodyguards had already blocked my way out.
I gritted my teeth, took the glass, and drank it all in one go. The pungent liquid burned my throat, and I almost choked on my own tears.
"Good! That's the spirit!" Jason clapped, but his gaze became even more lewd. "This bottle, too. Finish it, and I'll sign."
He pointed to a full bottle of liquor on the table. Surely, he was trying to kill me.
"Jason, don't take things too far!" I snapped.
"Take things too far? Emily, what right do you have to bargain with me now?"
Jason's expression darkened. He suddenly grabbed my wrist and dragged me toward the couch.
"Why are you pretending to be a virtuous maiden? You've slept with that forensic doctor for two years, so drop the act."
"Let go of me!" I struggled desperately. I grabbed the liquor bottle from the table and swung it at his head.
Just then, a loud smack resounded. Jason had reacted quickly and slapped me across the face.
I was reeling from the blow, and blood seeped from the corner of my mouth.
"You dare reject my kindness?" Jason spat at me, grabbed my hair, and poured the liquor down my throat.
The people around were all watching the show, and no one dared to step in to help.
I closed my eyes in despair.
