Mae’s POV
Henry Whitmore’s voice booms throughout the conference room thanks to the well-placed speakers.
“Thank you all for gathering here today. As always, due to the risk and cost of every Omegas United gathering, we will keep this as brief as possible.”
It occurs to me, as Henry mentions the risk that I had already deduced for myself, that the location was probably to help protect the gathered Omegas. We had to take a two-hour flight east of the capital to get here, to the middle of Lacertia. It’s a rural region where self-respecting Alphas rarely venture.
“I hope you know,” Henry continues, “that the rumors that forced me to leave the presidential race are not true, but whether or not you believe that is less important to me than your belief in Mae Ashford.”
