Chapter 14 The Family Head’s Warning

After shopping, Tia and Elfie returned to the villa. “Oh? Do we have visitors?” Tia noticed a black Land Rover parked outside the villa from afar. Elfie craned her neck to look and was somewhat surprised, “Why would the family head come here all of a sudden?” “The family head?” Tia looked at Elfie in surprise. “The family head usually doesn’t come here. Could something have happened to Mr. Aaron?” Elfie said with some trepidation. They decided to go into the villa first to see what was going on. As they entered, they saw dozens of bodyguards in black suits standing in two solemn rows. On the living room sofa sat an old man with graying hair. He was gently tapping his golden cane on the ground, exuding an aura of authority. Aaron was standing opposite the old man. The only person who could command such respect from Aaron must be the head of the Caius family. Breton glared at Aaron with displeasure. "I’ve heard that you’ve recently become involved with that illegitimate daughter from the Celeste family?” Tia, who was standing at the door, shrank back. Could it be that the head of the Caius family already knew about her and Aaron’s matter? Aaron’s thin lips tightened into a straight line, and he merely frowned at the accusation. “That’s a baseless accusation, Grandfather. Who did you hear it from?” “Do I need to hear it from someone?” Breton scoffed. “It’s all over the circle now. They say you not only took that woman to the company and showed affection in public, but you also brought her back home? “I’ve looked into that woman's background and family. She’s an illegitimate daughter with a disgraceful origin that will only bring shame to our family!” Breton spoke with unrestrained anger. “Grandfather, don’t you trust me?” Aaron smirked. “Besides, you don’t usually care about what I do, do you? Why the sudden concern?” “You’re now the only heir to the family, and your actions represent not just yourself but the entire family!” Breton’s voice became louder and more forceful. Aaron frowned unhappily, “She’s just an insignificant woman. Those people are merely spreading sensational rumors.” It turned out they were talking about Angelica. Aaron’s face became very unpleasant. “Don’t forget your status! Not just any woman can join the Caius family!” Breton tapped the stone floor forcefully. “Do you know what kind of person that woman is? Why are you even with her? It doesn’t matter if you don't respect yourself, but don’t ruin the reputation of our family!” Aaron slowly raised his eyes to look at his grandfather in front of him. This old man with graying hair and sharp eyes was his blood relative. However, he was also the person who had abandoned him overseas without a care, leaving him to suffer. Back in the day, there were overt and covert fights among the family’s younger generation. They were all competing for the position of heir, even to the point of fratricide. He was unfortunate to have an unreliable father, and in those silent battles, they were the weaker side. He had come close to death several times. If it had not been for his luck, someone else might have been in his position today. This thin familial affection was nothing more than a ridiculous joke to Aaron. “I’m well aware of what I should and shouldn’t do. If you’re worried that I might tarnish your reputation, you're just thinking too much,” Aaron said with a smile, but his gaze was cold. “It wasn’t easy for me to climb to where I am today. How could I possibly lose my head and do stupid things over a woman? And besides…” Aaron paused here, looking away. “The person I loved most was already killed by you, wasn’t she, Grandfather? I no longer have anyone that I love.” His beloved had died six years ago on that winter day. His heart had died along with her, and all this was thanks to Breton. For a moment, Breton stiffened, his murky eyes flashing with an unusual emotion. His hand that was gripping the cane trembled uncontrollably. “Regardless, you now represent the entire Caius family,” Breton said with an uncompromising firmness. “Your every action is related to the honor of the family. You'd better be cautious. Such a thing should not happen again.” Aaron sat with his hands crossed over his knees, watching as Breton slowly got up and walked out of the living room. His eyes became inscrutable. Tia was pulled by Elfie as they stood in the corner. As Breton walked past the two of them, he seemed to pause for a moment. Tia thought perhaps she was overthinking it. Aaron sat on the sofa for a long time. “Green,” Aaron called out, raising his hand. His assistant came over. “Some people are thinking too much. o and handle it.” The assistant nodded calmly, taking his briefcase before leaving. Angelica’s appearance was actually just an accident. While on a business trip, Aaron happened to bump into Angelica, who was traveling there. Her eyes and brows that somewhat resembled his lover made him feel nostalgic. Angelica quickly noticed Aaron’s thoughts and began to throw herself at him enthusiastically, attempting to gain some benefits from Aaron. Of course, Aaron knew how hypocritical Angelica was. He had no romantic feelings for her. It was just that occasionally, through her face, he could remember his lover’s image. Thus, Aaron treated her with a bit more gentleness and patience. However, Angelica was too stupid, thinking she could cling to Aaron and actually marry into a wealthy family. In Aaron’s eyes, once someone threatened his interests, they would definitely pay the price. Tia watched as Green walked away, then turned to look back. Aaron happened to catch Tia’s gaze. “Your sister’s too stupid. At least you two are very much alike in that regard.” Tia turned her head to look at Aaron. “Are you going to kill Angelica?” Aaron seemed to find Tia’s question foolish. “Why would I? She hasn’t made such a big mistake, at least not compared to you. But since she did something wrong, she should receive the corresponding punishment.” “Then how do you plan to punish Angelica?” Tia asked again. Aaron had lost his patience. “I don’t need to tell you that.” The man was simply unreasonable. Tia repeated this in her mind. “Where’s today’s coffee?” Aaron asked irritably. Tia snapped back to reality, glared at Aaron, and went to grind coffee beans. Since her arrival at the villa, Tia had been making Aaron’s coffee every day. Gradually, it seemed that Aaron had formed a habit of not drinking coffee made by anyone else.
