Kyle’s POV
Yesterday, Silvie walked out of my office and out of my life and I couldn’t do anything to stop her.
I watched the days till she had to leave all pass by, wanting desperately to try anything to make her stay, to go on my knees and beg, but my ego wouldn’t allow that. And finally, she slipped out of my grasp. What a piece of shit human I truly was.
As I stood in my apartment that bright and yet gloomy morning, I recalled the conversation I had with Dean during a private meeting between us right after the other one earlier that fateful day.

“Blackwell, did you really think I couldn’t tell that you had an interest in Miss. Bates.” Dean laughed condescendingly, “Anyone with eyes could tell, really.”
As he turned, he paused in the conference room doorway, his signature smirk firmly in place. “You know,” he began casually, his tone light but laced with mischief, “If you weren’t so damn uptight, maybe she’d show you the same want you so openly display for her.”
