Chapter19:
Silvie’s POV
“What were you doing at Elysian earlier today?” Kyle’s tone was clipped, the words sharp enough to cut through the air between us.
I stared at him, caught off guard. “How did you kno—”
“Answer the question, Silvie.” His jaw clenched as he exhaled harshly, clearly trying to rein himself in. “I’m—” He paused, running a hand through his hair. “I’m trying my damned hardest not to jump to conclusions again, but you must know how this looks.”
I folded my arms, leveling him with a glare. “Sir, I beg you to open your eyes and realize the world does not revolve around you. While I’m sure you’re used to everyone acting like it does, I assure you, not everything I do has to relate to or be because of you.”
His frown deepened, but I continued before he could interrupt. “If you’re thinking I went to seek out Mr. Hastings to hand over your company’s secrets as some kind of revenge, or whatever paranoid theory you’re cooking up, you’re wrong.”
