Chapter 3 Falling For Her

DAMIEN'S POV. I was falling for Serena hard and fast. I have never felt this way for anyone. Not even Olivia. I walked into her office for the umpteenth time that day. We didn't say a word to each other, but seeing her face alone was enough to keep me going. However, I soon noticed that she had her head buried within the files whenever I went there. It seemed she had so much to do today. It was quite sad, because I really wanted to speak to her. Her brows were creased together as she typed in the computer. She looked really hot when she was serious and in her work mode. Seeing her computer, I had a momentary flash back to the first day we met. She was really nervous when she had spilled coffee on me. I was glad I was not in a bad mood that day, I would have probably chased her away and lost my chance to love. And then, the computer incident....I think fate wants us together. I was at her office again and she was still busy. This time, I felt a little bit pissed. Why did she have to do so much work? I looked around at the desk of the other trainees, and they had lesser work. Infact, some of them were in the middle of a conversation because they had nothing to do I recalled I had told Olivia to mentor Serena. Where was Olivia? I went to look for her, but she wasn't there. I checked my phone to see if there was a text or something to explain her absence. I saw that a message was sent at midnight, asking for a day off. I didn't approve even approve it, and she still took it. I sneered inwardly, I think I have been too lenient with her. She always took unannounced day offs, which was unprofessional. I wouldn't allow that anymore. I just hoped Olivia did not make Serena do all her jobs. I walked back to the Sales department to see Serena. Some of the staffs were beginning to look at me strangely, but I didn't care. "Serena, what are you doing?" I inquired. She gave me a puzzled look. I knew she wanted to ask if I was blind and couldn't see that she was at work. "I mean, is that your duty?" I rephrased my question. "Oh..umm Olivia is absent today, and she told me to help her clear some things up." She explained. "Are you supposed to do that? Let me take a look." I said, and picked up one of the files. "Yes, I guess." Serena replied. Going through the files, I realized that she knew what she was doing. She was actually sorting everything out correctly, which proved how smart she was. My lips curved up into a smile as I was impressed. "I see we have nothing to worry about, I'm quite impressed." I said, on returning the file and she flashed a smile at me. "Thank you, sir." She said. Sir.....yuck. "But are you sure you are okay with this? Is it not too overwhelming for you? You are just a trainee after all. Olivia has been here for a long time so she can do all of these with her eyes closed." I said, with a worried look on my face. She chuckled softly, before she replied.... "I am very okay with it. Just like you said, I am a trainee and Olivia has been here for a long time. I know she was once a trainee before and now she has gotten to this point. She made sacrifices too, she has paid her dues and now she is enjoying the result. I can do same too. One of the perks of working in a big firm like this is learning how to work under pressure. I think this will build up my experience." Serena said. She was so brilliant! I clapped for her, which attracted attention from the others around. "Where have you been all my life?" I accidentally blurted out. "Hmm?" She asked, staring at me with wide eyes. "Um..I..I..I mean, you are so smart. Keep it up." I said, scratching the back of my neck nervously. She nodded and I noticed a slight blush on her cheek. "If you do not feel comfortable with this arrangement, do well to let me know, okay?" I said. "Alright sir. Thank you very much for your concern. It shows you have the wellbeing of your staff at heart." She said and my heart twirled. I gave her a thumbs up because I didn't even know what to say again. "See me in my office whenever you're done with this." I said and walked away feeling the gaze of everyone on me. I walked to the marketing department. It was similar to the Sales department, so I think Serena would cope quickly. I wanted to transfer her to the marketing department, I didn't want Olivia exploiting her just because she was an older staff. I called the Marketing department manager and spoke to him and a slot was immediately created for Serena. I went back to my office to wait for her to come see me. After a long two hour wait, she finally came to see me, looking tensed. "You sent for me, sir." She said. "Please sit down, Serena" I said without looking up at her and she sat down. I quickly rounded up what I was doing and looked at her. "Are you done with everything?" I asked. "Yes, I am." She said and I nodded in satisfaction. "Good. You will be leaving the Sales department." I announced and she frowned. "Why sir? Did I do something wrong?" She inquired. "No, you didn't. Take it as a promotion. You will have your own personal office, and your pay would be increased as well." I said and her eyes lit up in joy. "Thank you so much, sir." She said, almost tearing up. "Yeah, you're welcome. Let's go take your things to your new office." I said and she looked surprised again. "Today? You mean I would start today?" She asked. "Of course." I responded and she jumped excitedly while I just stood watching her, with a smile on my face. "I'm sorry, I'm just so happy." She said, after about a minute of excitement. "It's fine. Let's go now." I said and walked out of the office and she followed me. We both walked back to the Sales department office, and she gathered up all her files. Her former office mates stared at her, and asked what she was doing and she explained to them that she had been transferred to another department. She gave one of them few of Olivia's files then, they wished her luck and said their goodbyes, then she walked with me to her new office. It was a nice, portable office and she was very excited to have her own personal office. I left the office for her to do all her arrangements. I was happy because she was happy. At closing hours, I got into my car and drove out of the building. I was starving and I needed to eat something. I saw Serena standing in front of the building, I think she was waiting for a cab or something. I stopped my car in front of her. "Hey, Serena." I called. "Hi." She said with a smile. "Why are you standing here?" I asked. "Ummm....I don't have a car obviously, so I am waiting for a ride. I just booked one." She explained. "Well, cancel it and let me drop you off." I suggested. "No no no, that wouldn't be necessary. My ride is almost here." She declined. "Serena, I insist." I said. She pressed her lips together as she cancelled the ride. She walked to the other side of the car, and got in. "Thank you sir." She said "No problem. Just give me directions" I said. Her apartment was about twenty minutes away from there, and I enjoyed driving her home. We talked about a lot of things and I enjoyed her company. I kissed her hands as she was about to leave which made her blush. And again, I was happy because she was happy….
