The call connected almost instantly.
"Meeting's done already? That was quick," a bright, clear voice came through the speaker.
"You didn't expect it to finish so soon, so why keep calling?" Elliot replied.
"Ugh, I was just bored, okay? You have no idea how dull this shipping conference is. If it weren't for keeping up appearances, I'd have dozed off on this couch ages ago."
"You're attending on behalf of your dad—it's for your family's sake. Just push through."
"I know, I know, and I am. But seriously, I miss home so much. Elliot, can we video call? I just wanna see you."
Elliot glanced down the empty corridor. "Not a good time, too many people around."
"Alright, sigh. What a shame. It's been so long since we last saw each other—don't you miss me at all?"
Elliot didn't say anything back.
There was a soft sigh on the line. "Maybe it's 'cause I've been too busy lately, not getting enough rest... I feel kinda dizzy all the time, and my whole body just feels off."
