Clayton had one of his housekeepers, a woman with a long face, escort Charisse upstairs.
She heard him call the woman "Sarina," so she followed suit.
Sarina led her to a bedroom on the third floor and said with a straight face, "This one's also a master room, you'll stay here. Mr. Ellis' room is just across from yours."
Hearing that she wouldn't be sharing a room with Ellis, Charisse let out a breath of relief.
Sarina walked in, set Charisse's things down, and started pointing out all the features of the room like a tour guide.
"It's really fine, Sarina. I'm familiar with this stuff," Charisse cut in politely.
She'd grown up in places like this. It wasn't anything new.
But Sarina acted like she hadn't heard, continuing her full-on presentation—even demonstrating how each of the five-layer curtains created different lighting effects.
Charisse flopped onto the sofa, stifling a yawn and pretending to listen attentively, like a student stuck in one of those boring classes.
