Chapter 122 They All Came for Her
Emily looked past Gabriel and at the unit behind him. The door matched hers exactly, right down to the shine on the handle.
Gabriel straightened his back and took a step closer to her. "I moved in," he said, as if he were talking about the weather.
Emily's eyes went cold.
Was he watching her? Or was this just the first move to pull her back under his control?
But Gabriel acted like he didn't notice her annoyance and lifted an insulated carrier. "Roman ordered from the restaurant you like," he said. "Let's eat."
The scent of the food smelled like the seafood casserole she used to love. But tonight, it only smelled like mockery.
"No." Emily brushed past Gabriel and slid her key into the lock. "You're busy, Mr. Holton. Don't waste time on this."
She turned the handle, but Gabriel caught her wrist.
"Emily."
But Emily didn't turn around and simply shook him off. "Gabriel, the centennial celebration is over," she slowly said. "The show's over, and I've done what I promised to do."
